Daymont named to Verizon Academic All-America Womens Track & Field/Cross Country Team

St. Olaf College graduate Megan Daymont (Northfield, Minn.) was named to the 2003 Verizon Academic All-America ® Women?s Track & Field/Cross Country team. Daymont was selected based on her athletic and academic honors this past year. She is the only athlete from the MIAC conference named to the prestigious fifteen person national team.

Daymont capped a four-year career at St. Olaf College as a standout runner in both cross-country and track and field. She qualified for the NCAA Division III cross-country championship for four consecutive years as well as the NCAA Division III indoor and outdoor track championships, for a total of twelve national appearances. She achieved All-American awards six times, once for her twelfth place finish at the 2002 cross country national meet, twice for her second place finish in the 800 meter run at the indoor championships, once for her second place finish in the 1500 meter run at the indoor championships, and twice for her second and third place finish in the 800 meter run at the outdoor championships. Daymont was named Central Region Women?s Track and Field Athlete of the Year and is currently a finalist for the prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. Daymont holds eighteen individual MIAC titles, one individual MIAC relay title, as well as being named team MVP for four years in track and two years in cross country. Daymont graduated in May with a double major in math and economics and a 3.84 GPA and was named to the Verizon Academic All-America second team last year as a junior.
