December 2, 2004

"Child of Light, Be Born in Us," the 2004 St. Olaf Christmas Festival, will be presented Dec. 2,3,4 and 5 in Skoglund Center Auditorium with 500-plus student musicians performing. The groups include the St. Olaf Orchestra, conducted by Steven Amundson; Manitou Singers (all female, first-year students), conducted by Sigrid Johnson; Viking Chorus (all male, first-year students), conducted by Bob Scholz; St. Olaf Cantorei, conducted by John Ferguson; Chapel Choir, conducted by Bob Scholz; and the St. Olaf Choir, conducted by Anton Armstrong. The Festival is a ticketed event.

The concert, a worship service in song, will be produced by American Public Media (the national production and distribution arm of Minnesota Public Radio) and broadcast to both regional and national audiences of MPR and APM. In the Twin Cities and greater Minnesota, the live broadcast will be carried on WCAL 89.3 and on KSJN 99.5 and the entire MPR classical music network on Sunday, Dec. 5, at 3:30 p.m.

Twin Cities Public Television produced an hour-long program of the 2001 St. Olaf Christmas Festival "Love Divine, Illumine Our Darkness," which can be seen nationwide on PBS stations during the holiday season.
