'Sing For Joy,' produced by WCAL, will continue its home at St. Olaf College

St. Olaf College is moving production of "Sing For Joy" -- the weekly sacred music program currently produced by Classical 89.3 WCAL and hosted by Pastor Bruce Benson -- into the Office of Church Relations. A production team will report to Director of Church Relations Janet Kringen Thompson.

Daily chapel, Sunday worship and other selected college events will be streamed and archived on the St. Olaf website. The college reached an agreement this fall to sell WCAL, its public radio service, to Minnesota Public Radio. The Federal Communications Commission announced its approval of that decision Nov. 15.

Current WCAL employees Jeff O'Donnell and Jennifer Rowe will continue in their roles as associate producer and communications coordinator, respectively, for "Sing For Joy." Pastor Bruce Benson will host, and Professor of Organ Music John Ferguson will continue as music adviser. Audio services related to daily chapel, Sunday worship and concert recordings will be coordinated by Heather Ferguson, the senior recording engineer for WCAL.
