Daniel Sinykin '05, Moundsview, Minn., has been chosen as one of two Minnesota finalists for the Rhodes Scholarship, the world's oldest international fellowship that is awarded to only 95 people annually. A triple major in mathematics, English and philosophy, Sinykin will continue the interview process Nov. 20-22 with a regional committee.

Applicants are chosen on the basis of the criteria set down in the Will of Cecil Rhodes, the British colonialist who founded the scholarship. The scholarship covers tuition and fees for graduate studies at Oxford University. Ten St. Olaf students have won Rhodes Scholarships since 1910, with Decker Walker '04 being the most recent recipient.
