St. Olaf Assistant Professor of Chemistry Jeff Schwinefus has received a $35,000 Cottrell College Science award grant from Research Corporation for his project, "Stability of the DNA Double Helix in Mixed Cosolvent Systems," that strives to understand the role water plays in stabilizing the DNA double helix. The grant, which will impact summer research in 2005 and 2006, is designed to aid the professional and scholarly development of faculty -- along with their students -- at undergraduate institutions.
