Boxer Jack Johnson defied the color line, professor writes

Former boxer Gordon Marino, who holds the Boldt Distinguished Professor in the Humanities at St. Olaf College, wrote in an article in Boston.com that controversial fighter Jack Johnson's "sheer pugilistic genius is sometimes muted by all the social commentary that his life story understandably provokes."
