St. Olaf College will soon make special visits to four cities in the next few weeks in conjunction with the St. Olaf winter choir tour. "Showcase St. Olaf" is a collaborative effort among staff members from admissions, advancement, alumni and parent relations, athletics, marketing-communications and music to connect with people who have many interests at the college.

"This is an exciting opportunity for St. Olaf to market the college in the broadest sense," says Jan McDaniel, vice president for college relations. "We look forward to introducing our concert audiences to the treasures of the college beyond its outstanding music programs."

As part of the 2005 St. Olaf Choir tour, "Showcase St. Olaf" will visit Mankato, Minn., Rochester, Minn, Mason City, Iowa, and Red Wing, Minn., from Jan. 22 to Feb. 12. Each site will include a pre-concert discussion featuring St. Olaf faculty members Chuck Huff, Ted Johnson, Anne Walter and Dave VanWylen '80 - all of whom teach in the college's nationally ranked Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics programs.

"The St. Olaf staff is proud to demonstrate the breadth of the liberal arts program available at St. Olaf," says Bob Johnson, manager of the St. Olaf choir. "From music to athletics to the classroom, St. Olaf College has a vast offering of educational opportunities."

"Showcase St. Olaf" evolved as an outreach program of the college-wide marketing plan introduced in fall 2004. The idea is to utilize music tours and athletic events around the country to highlight the college's many strengths.

St. Olaf is an academically rigorous, nationally ranked liberal arts college in which coursework is integrated across disciplines to develop individuals who think broadly and deeply and as a college of the church where conversations about faith are part of daily life. St. Olaf inspires students to act on intellectual ideas and ethical ideals to better the world at home and abroad. St. Olaf students become part of an enduring community that takes pride in its traditions and its innovations while fostering the development of the whole person in mind, body and spirit.
