Class of 1955 sets new 50th reunion gift record

The Class of 1955 recently celebrated its 50th reunion with a gift to the college that totalled $16,712,914.79.

"It was a time where classmates stepped-up to help the next generation of Oles," says Glen Gronlund '55, who helped organize the class gift along with Shirley Chelberg Uricho '55. "We had fun renewing acquaintances and reliving memories."

The figure includes both annual and deferred gifts given since June 2000, when the class celebrated its 45th reunion. The majority of the gifts came during the last 18 months as the class planned for the 50th celebration. Class participation of 82 percent showed that each and every gift made a difference and that the joy of giving and memories of St. Olaf continue long after graduation.
