"You have to take the man's entire life and bring it down to nine minutes," says filmmaker Gayle Knutson about her newest film, "Prisoner 32,232," a short that chronicles the life of emeritus faculty member Reidar Dittmann '47 and his activities in the Norwegian underground during World War II. The film's title refers to the number Dittmann was issued when he spent 30 months in Buchenwald Concentration Camp.

Knutson's newest film is part of the Minnesota Historical Society's "Moving Pictures Film" competition that asks filmmakers to unearth stories about Minnesotans who were born between 1910 and 1929.

TPT will air Knutson's film Sunday, Oct. 7, at 10 p.m. Her film is one of five finalists in the Minnesota Historical Society competition, and the winners will be announced Sunday, Oct. 21, with public screenings of all submissions at the Minnesota History Center noon-5 p.m.
