"Visions of Hope" is the theme of this year's community celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, to be hosted by St. Olaf in Boe Memorial Chapel Monday, Jan. 21, beginning at 7 p.m. St. Olaf Professor of English Joan Hepburn will be master of ceremonies and St. Olaf Associate Pastor Jennifer Anderson Koenig '87 will provide the opening invocation. The Rev. Gayle Marsh of All Saints Episcopal Church in Northfield will give the benediction. The Northfield Youth Choirs will perform, and refreshments will be served in Buntrock Commons following the event, which is free and open to the public.

The celebration will feature a talk by St. Olaf professor emeritus and holocaust survivor Reidar Dittmann '47, followed by the presentation of Northfield's 2008 Human Rights Award to Beth Berry, coordinator of the Tackling Obstacles and Raising College Hopes program for Northfield schools.

The event will be streamed live.
