Composed of 11 brass players, one percussionist and one vocalist, Brass in Blue takes time between playing a variety of patriotic music to share accounts of the bravery and self-sacrifice of expeditionary airmen serving around the globe. The music they perform includes marches, classical transcriptions, jazz standards and patriotic favorites.

Brass in Blue is one of eight ensembles that make up the United States Air Force Heartland of America Band based at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska. Musicians are full-time active duty members of the Air Force and are completely capable of deployment overseas. All members hold advanced college degrees in music and provide musical support for official military functions.

The United States Air Force Heartland of America Band has been performing since 1943 and represents more than 329,000 Air Force professionals. It was the only Air Force musical unit deployed throughout the entire area of responsibility in support of troop morale during Operation Desert Shield. The ensemble also was deployed to Iraq, where it performed more than three-dozen shows for troops.
