The 2007-08 St. Olaf Band
The St. Olaf Band, playing under guest conductor John Whitwell, will perform on campus in Skoglund Center Auditorium Sunday, March 9, at 3:30 p.m. The concert will be free and open to the public, and streamed live here.

The program will include Fantasies on a theme by Haydn by Norman Dello Joio, Colonial Song by Percy Aldridge Grainger and Poem by Charles T. Griffes. The concert will conclude with a performance of Starry Crown, a new composition by Donald Grantham that is based on gospel music of the 1920s and '30s.

Whitwell retired from Michigan State University in 2006 after having led the band program there for 13 years. He's filling in this semester for St. Olaf Band Conductor Timothy Mahr '78, who is on sabbatical.
