St. Olaf to present special Sing For Joy broadcasts, host Easter Vigil

St. Olaf College invites the public to gather in Boe Memorial Chapel to celebrate the Great Vigil of Easter at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 22. The beautiful candlelight service is hosted by area Lutheran churches and is open to everyone. Congregants are encouraged to bring bells and other joyful noisemakers.

The service will be streamed live online.

Historically -- from the earliest days of the church -- the Easter Vigil was primarily a means of preparing new converts for baptism into the Christian Faith, which normally was done on Easter Sunday as the focal point of the church year. The practice has since evolved into the modern Easter sunrise service that many churches observe.

Sing For Joy broadcasts
The college's nationally syndicated radio program, Sing For Joy, also will present special Good Friday and Easter broadcasts this year. Visit the program's site to find a station near you or to listen online.
