This month St. Olaf Professor of Religion Anantanand Rambachan, a noted Hindu scholar, is participating in two international interfaith events -- one with the archbishop of Canterbury and one with Pope Benedict XVI.

At the invitation of Rowan Williams, the archbishop of Canterbury, Rambachan delivered this year's Lambeth Interfaith Lecture at Lambeth Palace in London April 10 (view photos of the event and read the of Rambachan's address). The annual lecture is given in alternate years by the Archbishop and by invited speakers. The title of Rambachan's lecture was "Hindus and Christians: Celebrating Friendship and Facing Challenges with Hope."

One week later Rambachan, at the invitation of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, will participate in an interfaith gathering with Pope Benedict XVI in Washington, D.C., April 17, during the pope's upcoming tour of the United States.
