Appointed as a Democratic super delegate in 1998 by Bill Clinton, Al Gore and Dick Gephardt, Brazile is one of the 796 super delegates to this year's Democratic National Convention. During her lecture she will talk about her political experiences and the role of super delegates in the nomination process.

After her talk Brazile will field questions and sign her book, Cooking with Grease (2004), which will be available for purchase from the St. Olaf Bookstore during the event.

Brazile is one of the best-known political strategists today. She has been named to Washingtonian Magazine's "100 Most Powerful Women in Washington" and Essence Magazine's "50 Most Powerful Women in America." She has worked in every Democratic presidential campaign since 1984, and in 2000 she became the first black leader of a presidential campaign when she was named head of the Gore-Lieberman effort. She also has chaired the Democratic National Committee's Voting Rights Institute, an organization established in 2001 to help protect and promote voting rights.

Brazile is a weekly contributor and political commentator on CNN's "Inside Politics" and "American Morning." She also is a columnist for Capitol Hill's Roll Call newspaper and a contributing writer for Ms. Magazine. She is founder and managing director of Brazile and Associates LLC, a public affairs and grassroots advocacy firm.
