Visiting Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies Stephanie Schmidt and staff member Pat Ceas seine for fish trapped on the west bank of the flooded Cannon River while St. Olaf students and city employees help out.

On Tuesday the Star Tribune (see the first five images of the story's accompanying online slideshow) caught St. Olaf Visiting Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies Stephanie Schmidt, staff member Pat Ceas, and St. Olaf students as they rounded up fish in downtown Northfield that had been trapped by the recent flood.

The large fish, bigmouth buffalo that are native to Minnesota (plus one small bluegill and some minnows), were released back into the Cannon River.
