Clift's cello enjoys a 'homecoming'

Instructor Anna Clift, cello, performed with the Minnesota Orchestra on its recent European tour to London; Edinburgh, Scotland; and Amsterdam. “Playing at the BBC Proms is an experience never to be forgotten,” she says. “The British are exuberant and don't hold back. They sing little ditties during the Intermission and many of the audience are standing right up to the edge of the stage during the concert.”

Another highlight for Clift was visiting Edinburgh, where her cello was made by David Stirrat in 1812. “If we’d had more time I would have tried to visit the workshop where it was made,” she says. “Even so, my cello was very happy during our performance that night.”
