Oles 'give to the max' in online challenge

Oles responded to this year’s Give to the Max Day in a big way.

St. Olaf won its division during the 24-hour online giving challenge, earning the college a $20,000 bonus from sponsor GiveMN.org.

That, combined with the $195,605 contributed by 1,791 donors throughout the day, made November 16 the single most successful day in annual giving history at St. Olaf.

“We sincerely thank the alumni, parents, and friends who banded together for these great results,” says Partners in Annual Giving Director Tracy Fossum. “We are especially excited that more than 200 students embraced the importance of ‘paying it forward’ for the Oles who will come after them.”

St. Olaf had just eight more donors during the challenge than the North American Bear Center in Ely, Minnesota, which took second place — and a $10,000 bonus — in the Greater Minnesota Region division. St. Olaf raised the second highest dollar amount in the state during the challenge, behind only Second Harvest Heartland (which also took first place for participation in the other division, the Twin Cities Region).

Nearly 3,500 nonprofits across the state participated in the second annual Give to the Max Day.
