Garrett named director of Budapest program

Associate Professor of Mathematics Kristina Garrett’s title just got a little longer: she is now the North American director of the Budapest Semesters in Mathematics program.

The internationally recognized program in undergraduate mathematics has been housed at St. Olaf for more than 25 years. St. Olaf Professor of Mathematics Paul Humke founded the program in 1985 and had been serving as its director until now. After a national search for his replacement, Garrett was named as the new director.

Budapest Semesters in Mathematics is one of the most prestigious and essential study-abroad programs for undergraduate students of mathematics, offering American and Canadian undergraduates the opportunity to study with leading Hungarian scholars. More than 170 colleges and universities have sent students to the program, including Harvard, Princeton, Berkeley, Macalester, and Carleton.
