Young Oles defend public media, AmeriCorps

Paula Skaggs '12 (at right) recently contributed the piece "Why public media matters" to the Huffington Post. "To risk losing public broadcasting's relevant and educational voice in a sea of often otherwise mind-numbing 'mainstream' stations is something we cannot afford," she writes.

Meanwhile, "End AmeriCorps? Short-sighted idea" by Wade Hauser '09, former St. Olaf Student Government Association president and AmeriCorps volunteer, appears as a Star Tribune Op-Ed. "For me and for a countless number of my classmates, AmeriCorps meant a chance to get out of our parents' basements and into the workforce while serving people in need," he writes.
