St. Olaf student Alexandra Garrett '12 has been selected to participate in the Gilder Lehrman History Scholars Program, which provides top undergraduate students interested in American history with the opportunity to conduct primary-source research and work closely with eminent scholars.

As one of the 30 students selected nationwide to participate in the program, Garrett will spend a week in New York City this June visiting museums and historical sites and meeting with distinguished historians, writers, editors, and museum curators to participate in discussions about major issues in American history and careers in the field.

Founded in 1994, the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving and enriching American history education through a wide range of programs and resources for students, teachers, scholars, and history enthusiasts throughout the nation.
