The St. Olaf College community will observe the 10th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks with worship services focused on reflection and healing.

The daily chapel service that begins at 10:10 a.m. on Friday, September 9, will include prayers of remembrance and hope focused on the events of 9/11. The worship service beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 11, will include the prayers of the community focused on the theme "The Tree of Life and its leaves, for the healing of the nations" (from Revelation 22). The St. Olaf Choir, conducted by Anton Armstrong '78, will provide music during the service. A sunset prayer service in remembrance of 9/11 will begin at 7:30 p.m. that evening at the Memorial Chime Tower.

From Friday through Sunday, community members are invited to place written thoughts, memories, and prayers in a clay vessel located in the narthex of Boe Memorial Chapel. "Prayers may be for specific people or places, for those who are mourning, for God's healing in the world and guidance for how we can be participants in that healing, or for any related needs or hopes," says Associate Pastor Jennifer Anderson Koenig '87.

The clay vessel and themes from the community's prayers will then be included in the Sunday worship service and the sunset prayer service that evening.
