St. Olaf philosophers tackle the Rolling Stones

Professor of Philosophy Charles Taliaferro and Tess Cotter '11 co-authored a chapter for the soon-to-be-released book The Rolling Stones and Philosophy: It's Just a Thought Away.

The two contributed a chapter titled "You Probably Think This Chapter Is About You," which deals with the subject of Rolling Stones member Mick Jagger's vanity and performance antics. A nod to St. Olaf College is included with a reference to Professor of Philosophy and Kierkegaard Library Curator Gordon Marino, who the authors mention to help demonstrate a concept.

This book is the latest volume in the popular "Pop Culture and Philosophy" series. Books in the series present essays by academic philosophers exploring the meanings, concepts, and puzzles within television shows, movies, music, and other icons of popular culture. The book, edited by Luke Dick and George A. Reisch, will be released this winter.
