St. Olaf earns top Peace Corps ranking

St. Olaf College has again earned a place on the annual Peace Corps list of top volunteer-producing colleges and universities. With 24 alumni currently serving overseas, St. Olaf holds the No. 3 slot among small schools (enrolling fewer than 5,000 students; St. Olaf enrolls 3,000), placing it among the leading 25 institutions spread across five categories.

The 24 Oles are stationed in Azerbaijan, Benin, Ecuador, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Honduras, Jordan, Liberia, Mali, Moldova, Mozambique, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, and Senegal. Since the Peace Corps was established in 1961, 488 St. Olaf alumni have served in the organization.

The Peace Corps employs more than 9,000 volunteers who serve in 76 countries in such diverse areas as information technology, business development, agriculture, health fields, youth mentoring, and English education.
