Orchestra wraps China tour

The St. Olaf Orchestra, conducted by Steven Amundson (at right), completed its 12-day, five-concert tour of China with a performance at Beijing Concert Hall Saturday, June 9. During the tour the 88-member ensemble also performed in Hangzhou, Shanghai, Xi-an, and Zhengzhou. Assistant Professor of Music Catherine Ramirez soloed with the orchestra on flute.

According to one local reviewer, the performance at Shanghai Jiao Tong University elicited "the audience's passionate applause" and prompted one student to call the orchestra's music "flowing."
