Times quotes O'Leary

Professor of Norwegian Margaret Hayford O’Leary was recently quoted in a New York Times story about Norwegian crime writer Jo Nesbo. O’Leary offered her thoughts on the trend of "exposing the dark side of seemingly ideal society" she has traced in Scandinavian crime fiction.

"My theory is that Norwegians are almost embarrassed by the accolades heaped on their society," she said, stressing that books serve as a means to get national secrets out in the open.
