St. Olaf included on three Princeton Review lists
JULY 31, 2009 — In addition to naming St. Olaf a "Best Midwestern College," Princeton Review's national guide, The Best 371 Colleges, also has included St. Olaf on three of its rankings lists.

St. Paul Saints sign Todd Mathison '09
JULY 28, 2009 — St. Olaf graduate Todd Mathison '09 has signed with the American Association's St. Paul Saints baseball team -- the fourth Ole to join the team since 2006.

St. Olaf faculty, students to perform at Fringe Festival
JULY 27, 2009 — A group of St. Olaf faculty members, students, and alumni will bring Helen of Troy to life at the Minnesota Fringe Festival in an abridged version of Ellen McLaughlin's play Helen.

Recent graduate dies in helicopter crash
JULY 25, 2009 — Alumnus Jeffrey Nordaas '08 died Thursday, July 23, in a helicopter crash in western Maryland. He was 24 years old.

Physical plant named in honor of former college architect
JULY 21, 2009 — A formal dedication ceremony was held last month to name the facilities building in honor of Norman E. Madson, who helped shape the look of the St. Olaf campus during the two decades he served as the college's staff architect and director of the physical plant.

JULY 16, 2009 — When it comes to food that's leftover on trays across campus, St. Olaf College's philosophy is simple: waste not. Rather than being dumped in a landfill, the four tons of food waste produced on the Hill each week is turned into compost that is used in gardens all across campus.

Three faculty members earn Fulbright awards
JULY 13, 2009 — Three St. Olaf faculty members -- Associate Professor of Political Science and Asian Studies Katherine Tegtmeyer Pak, Professor of Biology Anne Walter, and Assistant Professor of Biology and Environmental Studies Mike Swift -- will spend the upcoming academic year in Asia after each was awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant.

St. Olaf students selected for noted ecology program
JULY 8, 2009 — Alisha Woodson '12, Tsetan Lobsang '10 and Kathryn Staver '10 have been selected to participate in an Ecological Society of America program for underrepresented students who study ecology-related fields.

St. Olaf to host, stream Sing For Joy hymn festival
JULY 7, 2009 — St. Olaf College will host a Sing For Joy hymn festival Sunday. The event will include performances by organist John Ferguson, plus the a cappella ensemble Magnum Chorum and the Northfield Youth Choirs. The festival will be streamed live.
