Telling the St. Olaf Story
The "Ideals to Action" ad campaign began in 2004 as a vehicle to introduce our new tagline for St. Olaf College. The campaign debuted in Mpls.St.Paul Magazine, in a special section focused on higher education.
There, we noticed that many colleges and universities try to tell their whole story in a single ad. We opted instead to focus on one striking image, a photograph that was eye-catching enough to stop the reader and compelling enough to suggest broader themes.
After feedback from alumni and readers (who also have seen our ads in Minnesota Monthly magazine and Women's Business Minnesota ), we refined the campaign to include more copy and stronger headlines.
We want to showcase our students as whole human beings and to suggest the mix of mind-body-spirit that is essential to a St. Olaf education. We also want to have a little fun - because that, too, is part of St. Olaf.
