Typefaces

Primary typefaces
To maintain a consistent look, the following three families of type are strongly recommended for use in all St. Olaf materials, from stationery to signage:

Serif typefaces: Trajan, Sabon
Sans serif typeface: Myriad

When using Sabon, set numerals in Sabon Small Caps whenever possible.

These fonts may be purchased for both PCs and Macintosh computers; go to www.adobe.com/type/.

Trajan
Trajan should be used for headlines only, never for body and it should never be italicized.

Sabon
Sabon may be used for both headlines and body copy.

Myriad
Myriad may be used for both headlines and body copy.

Secondary typefaces
The following fonts are recommended by the Office of Communications for secondary uses:

Serif typefaces: Minion, Bembo, AGaramond
Sans serif typefaces: Arial, Franklin Gothic

If you have a limited selection of fonts at your disposal, Times New Roman and Helvetica can be used but never in logo typography. Times New Roman is suitable for use in the body of letters and printed materials when Sabon, Minion, Bembo or AGaramond is not available.
