Purpose of Procedures:
To ensure that deposits are correctly refunded to students or forfeited upon withdrawal from St. Olaf College.

Who needs to know these Procedures:
All St. Olaf College students.

Procedures:
Returning students- Deposits are refunded based on the date the Dean of Students (DOS) Office is notified.

Returning Students must contact the DOS office first. The DOS will then contact the appropriate offices regarding the withdrawal. The date that is used to determine the refund amount is on the PE (projected enrollment form) that comes from the DOS and follows the refund policy below:

  1. On or before April 1: refund $300
  2. On or before May 1: refund $225
  3. On or before June 1: refund $150
  4. On or before July 1: refund $75
  5. July 2 or after:   no refund

The only exception to this is a withdrawal due to financial aid. This is also determined by the DOS office.

First Year Students- Deposits are non-refundable. They are either held until the next year or forfeited. First Year Students must contact the Admissions Office if withdrawing.

If a student is deferring enrollment until the following year, we will hold the deposit until that student returns to St. Olaf.
