Care and Use of Your Olecard

- Keep your card in your wallet or protective holder.
DON'T:
- Loan your Ole Card to anyone else.

- Wash or dry your card.
- Alter images printed on your card.

- The card comes with a lanyard hole. Do not punch additional holes in your card.
Introducing the OLE Card one-card system at St. Olaf College
Your OLE Card is an all-purpose card that can be used to access meal plans, check out books from the library and gain admittance to certain St. Olaf buildings. It also is a debit card that can be used at the St. Olaf Bookstore, all Bon Appétit food service outlets and the Lion's Pause. (Card services will be expanded in the future to include vending, laundry, off-hours building access and more.)
All St. Olaf students, faculty and staff members will receive an OLE Card and be able to open an OLE Dollars debit account. Variations of the card will be provided to retired employees, college guests and local library patrons.
The card includes your photo on the front, along with your name, classification (student, faculty or staff) and signature. The back of the card includes a bar code for use in the libraries, along with a magnetic stripe for processing transactions with campus vendors.
What the OLE Card does for you
All St. Olaf students, faculty and staff must have an OLE Card to check out materials from the college libraries and to gain access to
Tostrud athletic facilities. The card also can be used as identification to receive various campus services.
OLE Cards can access two monetary accounts: OLE Dollars, a debit account that can be spent anywhere on campus where the card is accepted, and, for students, a Flex Dollars account that accesses a specific Bon Appétit meal plan. The card carries no maintenance fees.
The accounts
To use the OLE Dollars debit feature, simply deposit money in your OLE Card account before making your first purchase. Deposits by check or cash (no credit cards) to your account can be made at the St. Olaf Bookstore, the Cage grill and the Student Accounts Office. In the future you'll be able to add to accounts on this website.
Students, faculty and staff will receive a special 10 percent discount when using OLE Dollars at Bon Appétit facilities, including the Cage, Stav Hall and the Kings' Dining Room.
Your card balance will be shown on the card reader display and on a receipt after each transaction. Balances also can be checked without making a purchase. In the future you'll be able to check balances and maintain accounts on this website.
Replacing lost or damaged OLE Cards
If your card is missing, deactivate the card immediately by calling xCARD (507-646-2273 from off campus) and selecting the appropriate menu options. You can obtain a replacement card from the Buntrock Commons Office (room 147): Mon.-Fri. 9 a.m.-3 p.m. (the office is closed during daily chapel services).
Note that the cardholder is responsible for unauthorized transactions that occur before card deactivation.
There is a $25 replacement fee (charged to your OLE Dollars account) if you lose your card. The fee will not be charged for legal name changes.
OLE Card care
Decoded or damaged cards may be unusable. Here are some tips for keeping your card in good working order (and avoiding a possible replacement fee):
- Do not bend or fold your card, expose it to heat or subject it to a wash cycle.
- Do not pass your card through any other cardsystems such as ATMs.
- Do not leave your card on or near a TV, stereo, telephone, microwave oven or other electromagnetic equipment.
- The card comes with a lanyard hole. Do not punch additional holes in your card.
Unauthorized use
Alteration of your OLE Card or use by an individual other than the person identified on the card, as well as alterations to the card, warrants confiscation and possible disciplinary action by St. Olaf College.
Although entrusted to you while you are enrolled at, a guest of, or employed by St. Olaf College, the OLE Card remains the property of the college.
A few frequently asked questions:
Are there charges or maintenance fees for the OLE Card?
The only cost is a $25 replacement fee when you need to replace a lost or damaged card.
How can I check the balance in my account?
Your card balance will be shown on the card-reader display and on a receipt after each transaction. In the future you'll be able to check balances and maintain accounts on this website.
What can I do with unused account balances?
The Flex Dollar balance must be used during the semester when the meal plan is active, or the balance will be lost. The OLE Dollars account is closed following a student's graduation or formal withdrawal from St. Olaf. Balances of $5 or greater are credited to the student's tuition and fees account. Balances below $5 are forfeited to the college.
Will my OLE Card work as a credit or ATM card?
No. The card is similar to a check card that accesses debit accounts, but at specified locations only. Cash withdrawals are not possible.
