Committees (2009-2010)

The Environmental Coalition's work is divided among several committees. This page outlines some of the ideas and plans for each committee.

BASC (Bon Appetit Student Coalition)

The Bon Appetit Student Coalition works with representatives from Bon Appetit to find ways to reduce waste and achieve a greater level of sustainability and awareness of the food we eat. Contact: Emily Rose Pfaltzgraff (pfaltzgr@stolaf.edu)

CERF (Clean Energy Revolving Fund)

CERF is a group of students and administrators who oversee the use of the college's revolving fund. The revolving fund serves to encourage students to propose renewable energy and efficiency projects that will return their investment back into the fund. The fund was created in 2007-2008. Contact: Kate Horvat (horvat@stolaf.edu).

See the Green Bikes page.

Recycling Committee

The Recycling Committee is looking into ways to increase the amount of recycling that happens on the St. Olaf campus, whether it be in the dorms or in Stav Hall. Contact: Jeremy Aaron (aaron@stolaf.edu).

  • Raise awareness of already-recyclable items on the St. Olaf campus
  • Collect single-sided paper for reuse.
  • Making recycling more accessible to students, especially for problem items (e.g., batteries)
