Cancer Connection

Category: Volunteer Network Programs

Cancer Connection is a service organization dedicated to providing cancer-related opportunities in the areas of volunteering, cancer education and awareness, outreach, and fundraising for students at St. Olaf College, Carleton College, and the Northfield community. Cancer Connection's mission is driven forward through annual events such as the Breast Cancer Panel in October, which invites survivors, caregivers, and healthcare professionals to speak about their experiences; the Holiday Gift Drive for Children in December, which is an opportunity to fundraise and donate gifts to children in Twin Cities hospitals; and Relay for Life of Northfield in April, which is a team fundraising event where team members take turns walking around a track or designated path. Our event is 6 hours in length and each team is asked to have a member on the track at all times to signify that cancer never sleeps. Cancer patients don't stop because they're tired, and for one night, neither do we. Each team sets up a themed campsite at the event and continues their fundraising efforts by collecting donations for food, goods, games, and activities. This money will count towards their overall team fundraising goal and will go to the American Cancer Society. Contact cancerconnection-exec@stolaf.edu for more information on how to get involved!
