Student National Association of Teachers of Singing (SNATS)

Category: Academic

SNATS is a St. Olaf student-run organization made up of two branch organizations: the St. Olaf chapter of Student National Association of Teachers of Singing and the St. Olaf Opera Lovers Society. SNATS largely serves the interests of students of vocal music performance and pedagogy. It also gathers opera lovers and those interested in the art to view, listen to, appreciate, cherish, treasure and further learn about and explore opera in all of its forms and genres. Each year, SNATS organizes trips for St. Olaf students to view Minnesota Opera productions in addition to discussions about opera and other activities throughout the year. It also hosts educational events pertaining to vocal performance throughout the year, including a student recital and informal dinners with teaching artists and singers in the music world. Projects the organization has in development include a partially-staged oratorio and an off-campus opera cabaret night. This year, the Co-Presidents of SNATS are Alma Neuhaus and Erica Hoops, ’18. If you would like to be added to the email alias, have any questions about the organization, suggestions, or you would like to get involved, you can contact them at hintzsch and nyberg.
