The Saint Olaf women's tennis team is gearing up for a strong performance in this weekend's conference match.

The women left the courts victorious last Tuesday after battling strong winds for a 6-3 win over Carleton. Senior Alyssa Derksen commented, "the wind was a huge factor but we were a strong team despite it."

Women's Tennis Coach Scott Nesbit remarked the Carleton match, "was a great opportunity to play outside and get used to the elements."

The women's tennis team also defeated Nebraska Wesleyan 6-3 on April 31. The win gave the team a strong 12-5 overall record.

The team is looking forward to their conference match, which will be held at St. Olaf this Friday and Saturday Play begins at 9:00 a.m..

The women agree that being able to compete on home courts is a huge advantage.

Derksen said that although the team is still disappointed after their April 25 loss to the University of Saint Thomas, they are definitely ready for what lies ahead. Alyssa Derksen and her teammates believe they, "still have a good chance to do really well."

The senior is assured that, "we're going to break the tape and fight until the very last point."

With such determination, the women's tennis team is ready for a strong performance at the conference meet.
