The month-long celebration of National Hispanic Heritage month lasts from September 15 through October 15. Formerly a week-long celebration, President Lyndon Johnson signed a proclamation commemorating this event, and extended its duration from one to four weeks of recognition of all 21 Hispanic nationalities represented in the U.S.

The celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month on campus has been up and running for two weeks. This month gives us the opportunity to nationally recognize the Hispanic/Latino community amongst us. It also allows us to share our cultures with each other in order to form one fellowship. To support each other in this effort is the only way to achieve this goal.

Presente, the Hispanic/Latino organization on campus, has sponsored and will continue to sponsor many events on campus celebrating this special month. Past events included salsa at the Quest, the Pi–ata celebration, the Spanish meal in the cafeteria, the movie "Mambo Kings," and the picnic at the Schmidt House. All events were a huge success, and Presente would like this success to continue during this yearŐs celebration, and would also like to thank all who have supported past events. Please look at the schedule of this yearŐs events on this page.
