. . Much anticipation for Homecoming and Family Weekend

NORTHFIELD, Minn. Š St. Olaf College students, faculty, alumni and friends will celebrate Homecoming and Family Weekend with a busy lineup of athletic contests, concerts and other campus activities Friday through Sunday, September 29 Š October 1.

Homecoming and Family Weekend includes a number of special events for the St. Olaf community, but many are free and open to the public. The annual campuswide celebration is coordinated by the collegeÕs Alumni and Parent Relations Office.

Three home athletic events are scheduled for Saturday, September 30. The St. Olaf football team will face Augsburg College on Manitou Field at 1 p.m. The menÕs soccer team will take on Hamline University at Mellby Soccer Bowl at 1 p.m., and the menÕs cross-country team will host "An Old Fashion XC Meet."

Homecoming and Family Weekend will also showcase the musical achievements of St. Olaf College students. The annual Family Weekend concert, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, September 29, in Skoglund Center Auditorium, will feature the Norseman Band, the Manitou Singers and the Viking Chorus. On Saturday, September 30, at 8 p.m. in Skoglund, the St. Olaf Orchestra will present a concert.

Members of Companydance, the St. Olaf College student modern dance troupe, will present an informal showing of faculty and student works in progress from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, September 29, in Haugen Theater of the Communication-Theater Building.

A 5-K Wellness Run will depart from Skoglund Center Fieldhouse at 9 a.m. on Saturday, September 30. Registration for the run begins at 8:15 a.m. in Skoglund.

The traditional Homecoming Parade will begin at noon on Saturday, September 30, proceeding west along St. Olaf Avenue from Hwy. 3 to the college.

The weekend features a host of other activities, including tours, receptions, seminars, reunions, dinners, a jazz brunch and programs for children and teens.
