Andy and Ben support music outside the bubble

New and sometimes relatively unknown music can at times be difficult to find in music stores. It can be even more difficult to find non-mainstream music on the radio. According to DJs Andrew Eklund and Benjamin Toht, St. Olaf's radio station, KSTO, provides a place for these groups to be heard.

Tune into the radio today and you're bound to hear a whole lot of the same music that you heard yesterday. Stations that claim to play a large variety of songs are only comparing themselves to other commercial stations. KSTO, however, plays a large variety by any standard.

"TRI-PCV what's your request?" This can be heard every week from one of radio station KSTO's radio announcers when receiving phone calls from fans. The acronym, TRI-PCV, represents three distinguished gentlemen: Herbert Washington (DJ Herb), Dexter (DJ D-Love) Watson, and John (DJ Boogie) Chapman.

Every Tuesday morning from 11 to 12, a wide array of "boy bands" can be heard on 93.1. Kirstin Franklin and Bridget Boykin, DJs for St.Olaf's KSTO, play many of pop culture's favorite boy bands including N'Sync and the Backstreet Boys.
