As a college student, I appreciate political candidates who pay attention to the issues important to young people. Right now, education is a big issues for me, and I anticipate that issues of taxes and raising a family will be issues in the relatively near future.

Knowing that older people vote at higher rates than us younger people, US Senate candidate Mark Dayton has focused almost exclusively on senior citizen issues. I don't believe he really has a vested interest in their issues he just wants to get elected. And what's worse is that he's expressed no real ideas about higher education or helping young families.

Senator Rod Grams has been a lot more balanced both in the issues he's tackled in the Senate, and in the issues he's addressed on the campaign. Grams has a proven track record of helping young people in very practical ways working for and winning college tax credits, pushing for and winning legislation allowing us to deduct the interest from college loans, working to eliminate the marriage tax penalty that hurts young workers more than others, working to reform the social security system for the long term, and being the champion of the $55-per-child tax credit that really helps young families.

I think it is pretty clear that all generations and especially young people have a real friend Senator Rod Grams. Young people should be voting in drove on November 7th to re-elect Rod Grams
