SARN--or the Sexual Assault Resource Network--is an advocacy group for students, faculty and staff at St. Olaf College. SARN currently has about ten advocates, who have all gone through 50 hours of training at WomanSafe in Fairibault and are Minnesota State certified. An advocate is on call every night between 8:00 PM and 8:00 AM. SARN is involved with dorm talks, as well as school and community educational programs. Last fall they sponsored a First Night Kit drive with APO to collect necessary items for the WomanSafe center in Fairibault. Each April SARN sponsors educational programs and speakers for Rape Awareness month. Anyone can become involved in SARN. There is usually a sign-up at the activity fairs in the beginning and middle of the year. Otherwise, interested persons can contact the co-chairs: this year Ann Lefert and Amy Kirchner, and next year they will be Liz Rein and Alison Feigh. People who are interested must fill out an application and then go through the 50 hour Minnesota State certified training with WomanSafe in Fairibault.
