Board of Regents Student Committee
The Board of Regents Student Committee is an organization of SGA that connects the student body with the Board of Regents. The committee’s representatives research, write, and present reports to the Board of Regents, and conduct a variety of awareness campaigns throughout the year. For more information on BORSC or to tell us about a campus issue, please contact your class representative.
How is BORSC organized?
The Board of Regents Student Observer leads the Board of Regents Student Committee. The committee consists of class representatives, public relations coordinators, and two editors. The entire group meets once a week.
Who is the Board of Regents?
Like a company’s board of directors, the Board of Regents meets on campus four times a year to make wide-ranging decisions about the college and its future. Recent decisions have included hiring a new president, building a science center, etc. They are generally not involved with day-to-day operations.
What does BORSC do?
BORSC fosters open lines of communication between the student body and the Board of Regents. The committee does this by researching student opinion and presenting reports to members of the board. It also conducts a variety of student awareness events on campus issues.
How do I share my opinions with the Regents?
Because the Regents are only on campus three times during the school year, BORSC is a vital link between them and the student body. Board of Regents meetings are not open to students or faculty. If you have an issue that you believe is of interest to the Board, please contact your class representative.
How do I share my concerns with the Regents?
Visit the BORSC web site to connect with your class representative. He or she will voice your concerns at the next meeting. Often times, it helps to form a group of people who share your concerns. If your issue relates to the entire student body or the college as a whole, the committee may present it to the Board of Regents’ Student Affairs Committee.
How can I get involved with BORSC?
Committee members are selected through an application and interview process that takes places each spring. Incoming first-year selection takes place in early September. For information or to pick up an application, please contact the Board of Regents Student Observer.
