The
Diversity Celebrations Committee (DCC) was created in 1999
to promote and coordinate programming that celebrates diversity
in many aspects. DCC provides you with challenging speakers
that encourages education, awareness and the experience of
various cultures throughout the year. The membership of the
committee symbolizes the potential of this campus to be a
diverse yet unified community. We strongly encourage you to
take advantage of these valuable opportunities to explore
vibrant, exciting cultures that are both familiar and unfamiliar.
How many
times have you heard people comment that St. Olaf is just
one big bubble? Regardless of whether or not you believe this,
there actually is an entire world out there completely different
and equally as interesting as St. Olaf! We specialize in informing
students about events happening off the hill, at other colleges,
such as Macalester, The U of M, Gustavus, Luther, and of course,
Carleton! If you would like to see more of Carleton College,
the possibilities are endless there as well, including movies,
concerts, radio, classes, and libraries. The Intercampus committee
as part of the SGA is here to help bring all of those possibilities
to your attention, and to make it easier for you to experience
them. We hope that in the coming months of the school year,
that we can bring the relationship with other schools to a
new level, so there are not as many stereotypes, and comfort
is an adjective present more frequently when these colleges
are together, rather than an awkward feeling. We invite all
opinions, criticisms, and suggestions from you. Just email
us! We obviously do not have a master schedule yet, due to
the reliability of the other college, but in the forthcoming
months, some major activities could be taking place...stay
tuned! We also send out a weekly newsletter about the forthcoming
weeks events in the area called "intercampusinfo",
so if you are interested, please do contact us! |
