The Political Awareness Committee (PAC) of the St. Olaf Student Government Association is the primary student promoter of political awareness and activity on the St. Olaf campus. Committed to nonpartisan political education and activism, the Political Awareness Committee seeks to serve all members of the St. Olaf student body as a political resource, ultimately making students into responsible and knowledgeable citizens.
To attain this goal, PAC will work to promote social, cultural, and political awareness; break down stereotypes; create safe spaces for dialogue; mobilize the student population; and challenge the St. Olaf community to consider its political nature. The Political Awareness Committee will accomplish these goals through three methods education, coordination, and action.

To educate the St. Olaf community, PAC will bring a diverse range of people to campus and inspire political dialogue, maintain a high level of political contacts and resources for St. Olaf Students, and create public spaces where civic dialogue is encouraged.

To coordinate the St. Olaf community, PAC will open and strengthen lines of communication between political organizations on campus, promote various political events and dialogue, and act as a medium of political communication for St. Olaf students, faculty, and staff.

To act with the St. Olaf community, PAC will mobilize students to participate actively in the political process by communicating with representatives; researching and understanding political issues; attending public forums and meetings; and supporting direct, nonviolent political action and civil disobedience.

Ultimately, the Political Awareness Committee wants to enlighten students about the American political process and inspire them to actively engage their rights and responsibilities as citizens of the United States and the world.
