Use of Space Guidelines
The Lion’s Pause welcomes your event.
The Pause Executive Team will gladly consider any proposal
for the use of The Pause. Before submitting a proposal to
use Pause space the Executive Team encourages event organizers
to read the following guidelines, which The Pause Exec Team
uses in considering space applications.
The Lions Pause Mission
To enhance St. Olaf student life by providing a relaxed atmosphere
for socializing; a variety of tasty, affordable food, and
to provide and best utilize first-class entertainment facilities.
Reserving The Lion’s Pause
To reserve The Lion’s Pause fill out a Use of Space
Application for the consideration of The Lion’s Pause
Exec Team. Only the Main Stage Area of the Pause may be reserved.
The Den and Pool Room areas are open to general student use
during regular Buntrock Commons hours. If you have any questions
please contact the Lion's Pause Stage Manager.
Programming Guidelines for The Pause
Although The Pause Exec Team will consider all applications
for the use of space, the Lion’s Pause management wishes
to attract a variety of programmed events to the space. Applications
to bring new, creative programs to The Pause will tend to
receive greater consideration than others. In addition, the
following guidelines are emphasized:
Events held on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday Nights:
• Should be open to all St. Olaf and Carleton students
• No group will be charged for the use of Pause space
on these nights.
A maximum of one D.J. dance per month.
Priorities for Space Usage
Applications for the use of The Pause will be given priority
depending on the organizing group’s relationship to
the college.
I. Student Organizations
The Lion’s Pause receives the majority of its funding
from the Student Government Association and therefore the
first priority of The Pause is to accommodate the needs of
student led organizations.
Applications for the use of The Pause will generally be considered
in the following order:
1. The Pause
2. Student Activities Committee
3. SGA recognized organizations
II. St. Olaf College Offices/Departments/Programs
After accommodating the demands of student led organizations
The Lion’s Pause will give full consideration to space
applications from college offices, departments, and other
programs.
III. Friends of the College and Members of the Public
The Lion’s Pause welcomes applications for space from
off the Hill. These groups will usually be charged for the
use of The Pause space. (See the description of fees below.)
The Pause reserves the right to deny or change the use of
space agreement at any time.
Band Practices
Band practices may take place between 3 PM and 1A.M, Monday
through Wednesday. On these days, band practices will take
precedence over most events. However, the Pause reserves the

The Pause will notify band members of practice cancellation
at least 24 hours in advance.
