Worship

The Worship Commission works closely with the pastors to plan appropriate and meaningful worship services in both traditional and contemporary liturgical forms. This commission works with many of the musical organizations on campus. The commission also plans special seasonal services such as midweek vespers, Lenten Vespers, as well as occasional experimental services.

We are always looking for readers, ushers, communion assistants and assisting ministers to help with Sunday worship. Musicians are always welcome to share their talents for evening prayer and daily chapel. Contact Kaleb Sutherland (sutherla) or Karl Turnlund (turnlund) to get involved.

Extra Campus Commission

This commission stresses the concern of the congregation's involvement outside of the St. Olaf campus. This includes relationships with other churches in Northfield and elsewhere, the ELCA and the worldwide issues of hunger, poverty, and human rights. The Extra-Campus Commission has, in the past, worked closely with the organizations Bread for the World and Amnesty International in letter writing campaigns. One of the congregation's noteworthy projects has been to assist in the creation and support of Ruth's House of Hope, a shelter for battered women and children in Faribault, MN. This commission also acts as a liaison to ELCA conferences from the congregation.

Contact Zach Baer (baer) to get involved.

Life & Growth Commission

This commission seeks to enrich the spiritual lives of students through various fellowship experiences, including concerts, speakers and forums, various Bible study groups and discussion groups. In these and other ways the commission works to encourage and enhance personal and community growth.

Contact Rebecca Rathjen (rathjenr ), Emilie Bouvier (bouvier) for more information or to get involved.

Stewardship Commission

Students wrapped up in academics nevertheless lend time, talent and love to others through various service projects and advocacy work. This commission is responsible for promoting and encouraging involvement in on- and off-campus projects. This spring the Stewardship Commission will be doing advocacy work for Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services (LIRS), an offering of letters in conjunction with Bread for the World, and selling Fair Trade coffee and chocolate. To join the advocacy alias, please e-mail Paul Drees (drees).
