Editorial Policy

COVERAGE
The focus of coverage follows the desires of the majority of the student body, as long as these do not contradict St. Olaf College Policy. The staff encourages constructive criticism before and after publication. However, final authority on yearbook content is by Viking staff. No material that is irresponsible or libelous will be printed. Material deemed by Viking staff as in poor taste will not be printed.

DISTRIBUTION
The Viking will be distributed to all students, faculty, staff and administrators who prepurchased a copy of the yearbook. Additional copies will be made available to students on a first-come-first-serve basis up to sixty days after the initial distribution, at which point faculty and staff members will be offered a copy if supply allows. Seniors may either have a copy sent through the mail, pick it up themselves at the yearbook office or have a proxy sign and pick up a copy for them.

PHOTO SUBMISSIONS
All submitted photos become property of the Viking. Due to the large quantity of submissions, photos will not be returned unless otherwise specified.

STUDENT PORTRAITS
All non-seniors must use the photography service provided in the fall by the Viking. No retakes or substitutions will be made. Seniors may submit their photo granted 'senior portrait guidelines' are followed, including but not limited to: required information listed in pencil on a post-it not, no cut, taped, inked, photocopied, or unusable head size portraits. Senior portraits will be cropped to include only the head and upper torso unless otherwise specified.

STUDENT NAMES
In order to maintain consistency in the Viking index, all student names will be printed as they appear in the St. Olaf Phone Directory. The Viking staff is not responsible for any typos or mistakes made in the directory.

SENSITIVE ISSUES
Should a student die at anytime during their time here, the Viking will use professional and responsible coverage. When deemed appropriate, a page in memory of that student will be included in the senior section of the corresponding graduation year.
