Margaret O'Leary and I are responsible for the Norwegian Department home page, and we are working hard to find Norwegian web sites which fit into our curriculum, create web exercises, publish our students' work on the web, and share our syllabi with other teachers of Norwegian. Our major project this year will be to create a Norwegian digital photo album, using photos combined with Norwegian text and sound. I am not teaching in this January so I have been exploring various ways of creating interactive web pages. I have learned some JavaScript and made an interactive web quiz to go with our photo album project. I also found a program on the web that automates the writing of CGI scripts for language quizzes. As soon as it is installed on the UNIX system at St. Olaf, I will put links to some practice quizzes on this page.
