I was born in St. Paul, MN but moved to Terre Haute, IN when I was one year old. After graduating from Indiana University with a degree in Spanish, I lived in Washington, DC for three years, where I met my husband, Mike Bull. We moved to Minneapolis in 1988. I went to graduate school and got a Master's of Education degree and taught high school Spanish for two years before deciding that teaching was not my "cup of tea." I then started working at The Nature Conserva ncy's Midwest Regional office, as a Project Information Manager, which is where I started my interest in information systems. (See The Nature Conservancy's home page) I began a full-time MBA program in January 1993 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, while working part-time at the Conservancy's Wisconsin office. We then moved back to Minneapolis in August of that year, which is when I started CSOM's Evening MBA program as an Advanced Placement student. My husband, Mike, is a Legislative Analyst in the Minnesota House of Representative's Research Department, where he researches issues and drafts legislation related to Telecommunications, Energy, and Pollution Control.
Our first daughter, Caitlin Baird Bull (we call her Katie), was born on August 29, 1994. She's a very happy kid and has learned to read and write very well. She lost her first tooth when she was almost 6. She is in second grade at Greenvale Elementary in the Link Program. She adores her little sister.
Our second daughter, Kelsey Jean Bull, was born August 25, 1997. Here is a picture of Kelsey when she was a baby, taken by then St. Olaf College President, Mark Edwards. Yes, she has her mother's red hair! She's a very outgoing , mischievous child with a strong will. And if you go against her will, watch out! She attends Northfield Daycare. Here's what she looks like now.
Our son, James Carmichael Bull, was born January 29, 2001. He's a smiley guy who loves his sisters best of all. Here he is with me for his first swim in Aunt Karen's pool. He rounds out our little family quite well - so I think we're done now!
We moved to Northfield, MN just before Katie was born, as we were getting tired of the "big-city" life and wanted a smaller-town environment for Katie (and any more children we hoped to have!) to grow up in . I commuted 2-3 days a week to Minneapolis for almost a year after my maternity leave and "telecommuted" the remaining days of the week while my parents took care of Katie. However I got pretty tired of the driving and felt I wanted to be closer to Katie all week long, so I finally decided to work in Northfield. As you can imagine, working full-time and being a full-time Mom doesn't leave me much time for anything else!
