Vasari Life of Leonardo da Vinci; online index to da Vinci’s works

 

Answer either of the following questions:

 

  1. Our textbook describes the components of the Renaissance revolution in the arts: the change in status, the focus on the human figure, and the mastery of perspective.  How does Vasari’s Life of Leonardo da Vinci demonstrate the first two of these developments in particular? 

 

  1. Looking at da Vinci’s art and samples of his drawings from the online source, what evidence do you see to support Vasari’s contentions about da Vinci’s genius?  Do you see anything to support Vasari’s claim that the artist was unable to achieve what he could have because of a tendency to lose his focus?
