How do these excerpts illustrate the paradox of chivalry in late medieval warfare?  Incorporate the following into your discussion:

·        the slaughter of the Genoese (“Genoways”) mercenary crossbowmen.  Why does the French king order them killed?  What are the consequences for the battle?

·        Henry of Luxembourg’s last stand.

·        the taking of the French king, and the Black Prince’s treatment of the captive king later that night.
